Set up a YouTube Giving fundraiser

YouTube Giving allows creators to support the charitable causes they care about. Eligible channels can fundraise for nonprofits by adding a donate button to their videos and live streams. Viewers can donate directly on the video watch page or in live chat.

YouTube Giving isn't available on videos set as made for kids. You won't see videos set as made for kids when adding videos to your fundraiser. For more details about eligibility and availability, visit the YouTube Giving FAQs.

Super Chat for Good has been replaced by Live Chat Donations as the way to fundraise on live chat. See the instructions below to add your fundraiser to your scheduled live stream with live chat.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to fundraise with YouTube Giving, your channel has to meet the following requirements:

  • Channel is located in the United States, United Kingdom, or Canada.
  • Channel has at least 10k subscribers
  • Channel is a part of the YouTube Partner Program
  • Channel is NOT designated as made for kids

Note: You may find fundraising on some channels outside the above eligibility criteria. We plan to make YouTube Giving more broadly available in the future.

Create a YouTube Giving Fundraiser

You can create a YouTube Giving fundraiser and add it to your videos or live streams. Fans can then donate from the donate button on the added video or on live chat.

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left menu, select Monetization, then Giving.
  3. Click Get started and then Create a fundraiser.
  4. Select the available 501(c)(3) US nonprofit that you would like to support. If the 501(c)(3) nonprofit you'd like to support isn't listed, select Request a nonprofit. Learn more about available nonprofits.
  5. Follow the instructions to add details to the fundraiser, like title, description, and collaborators. We also suggest setting a fundraiser goal and duration. You can change it at any time.
  6. Add videos and/or scheduled live streams that will feature the donate button.
  7. Select PUBLISH.

You can also set up your fundraiser while setting up your live stream in Live Control Room under Advanced Settings. Learn more here.

Note: After the fundraiser start date, you'll see the donate button on your video watch page or in live chat. If you've created a fundraiser and your video's audience is set as made for kids, the donate button will not appear on your video or live chat

If you want to increase your impact, create a community fundraiser. Updating the "Collaborators" section will allow any channel with access to YouTube Giving to join your fundraiser.

The donate button will appear on your watch page or live chat once your fundraiser has started.

Join an existing fundraiser

You can also join another creator's community fundraiser.

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left menu, select Monetization, then Giving.
  3. Click Get started and then Join a fundraiser.
  4. Choose from the list of available community fundraisers.
  5. Add videos or scheduled live streams that will feature the donate button.
  6. Select PUBLISH.

Note: You'll start seeing the donate button on your watch page or live chat after the fundraiser start date.

Manage your YouTube Giving fundraiser

In the Giving tab, you can view how much money the fundraiser has raised. You can also edit the campaign, change the goal amount, or remove the fundraiser at any time.

To change your fundraiser details:

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left menu, select Monetization, then Giving.
  3. Next to the fundraiser you want to change, select More and then Edit.

To delete your fundraiser and remove the donate button from your videos, follow the steps above and select Delete.
